Writing the Memoir – Truth Is Indeed Stranger Than Fiction
1:30 – 3 PM

Life is always more bizarre, tragic, or inspiring than any work of fiction. Recounting life experience, even for brief periods of time, requires a skill set that goes well beyond self-reflection.

  • How do you focus the story?
  • What is the real story not the actions but the emotions that people relate to?
  • What are the pillars of writing a great memoir?

You don’t have to be famous to have a great story. Learn from three award-winning memoir authors on how to translate your experience to the page with vivid prose.

Panelists: Memoirists Jervey Tervalon and Alice Rene, with author/memoirist Matthew Pallamary
Moderator: Literary agent Toni Lopopolo

What top regional agents are selling and what type of books they are looking to sign

BONUS: Ten attendees to the morning workshop will pitch the agents with their “log line or elevator pitch” created at the earlier session. Listen and watch the agents react and learn how to fine tune your pitch.
